Imagina 2009, Nomination

The MarsCruiserOne video by Architecture and Vision has been nominated in the Industry sector of the Imagina 2009 Award, in the section Best Industrial Design.

Imagina Awards aims at recognizing and rewarding the very best use of 3D modelling, simulation andvisualisation applied to a particular sector, whether it be artistic, industrial or engineering related.

travelling exhibition

Italian Cultural Institute, Chicago, March 11-24, 2009
Swissnex, San Francisco, April 30 – May 20, 2009

Opening on March 11, 2009, at the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, From Pyramids to Spacecraft is a travelling exhibition displaying selected projects by AV.
This is the first exhibition entirely dedicated to the work of AV.

Projects and models on display include the tent for extreme environment DesertSeal, the habitable rover for space missions MarsCruiserOne , the inflatable laboratory MoonBaseTwo, and the habitable mobile lounge MercuryHouseOne.

A catalogue will be published with a foreword by Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA, New York. The catalogue will present the vision and designs of the studio, and considerations on the team’s work by other architects, designers, scientists and critics.

Paola Antonelli will give a speech at the exhibition opening in Chicago March 11, 2009, and Arturo Vittori and Andreas Vogler will present their work.

After Chicago, the exhibition will be displayed at Swissnex in San Francisco, opening April 30, 2009.

Arturo Vittori and Andreas Vogler will speak on “The Future of Organic Design”, with Ross Lovegrove, at the DLD (Digital-Life-Design), on January 26, 3.00 pm.
Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, will moderate the panel.

ORD CampUIC Innovation Center, Chicago, USA, January 30-31, 2009Arturo Vittori has been invited at the ORD Camp, the gathering underwritten by Inventables and Google, that will be hosted at the new UIC Innovation Center in Chicago on Friday and Saturday, January 30-31, 2009.Inspired by Foo Camp in California, of which it will borrow the format, this first ORD Camp will see 100 leading technology thinkers giving talks and share their work and thinking to cross-fertilize ideas, exploring topics that transcend traditional boundaries.
