On September 3, 2009, 20:30h, ‘FioredelCielo‘, lightened by hundreds of candles and Led lights, left it’s scaffold at the Porta Romana and started walking through the narrow streets of Viterbo. Carried by 100 men called Facchini and followed by some 100′000 people, the new Macchina di Santa Rosa di Viterbo, designed by AV was enthusiastically welcomed by the Viterbese people.
When ‘FioredelCielo’ turned around itself on the Piazza di Commune, thousands of rose leaves fell down on the enchanted crowd. The whole event lasted for 2 hours and ended with the arrival at the Santa Rosa Church, where 3 days later Pope Benedict XVI visited and praised the new Macchina. The transportation of the Macchina di Santa Rosa di Viterbo was an incredible success, which was followed by national and international media and camera teams.
The design by Architecture and Vision will be in operation for the next 4 years an can be seen on September 3rd each year.
