The competition winning project “LaFenice”, the “Phoenix”, will be officially presented to the city and to the press by architect Arturo Vittori director of Architecture and Vision and with the presence of Mr. Giuseppe Buzzanca, Maire of Messina. The event takes place at the Palazzo della Cultura “Antonello da Messina”, viale Boccetta. The public sculpture representing the memory of the city, is made of stainless steel and glass and has a height of 4,10 meter. The highly polished exterior reflects the surrounding of the city. It is currently under construction and will be installed in Piazza della Memoria in few weeks.

Arturo Vittori has been invited to lecture about the project “FioredelCielo”, the new ‘Macchina di Santa Rosa’ at the Club Lions of Viterbo, Italy. The conference will be hosted at ‘Rettorato dell’Università degli Studi della Tuscia’.

Architecture and Vision has been winning the design competition in 2009 and built the macchina in the same summer. Every year, on the night of September 3rd, the city of Viterbo celebrates its patron saint Santa Rosa. The “tower” is carried by 100 men during the night through the narrow streets of the medieval town, that will be livened up with the light of hundreds of candle flames and with falling rose petals. The event is proposed to become part of the UNESCO world heritage.
