‘FROM PYRAMIDS TO SPACECRAFT’ – EXHIBITION – MUNICH

September 19th, 2011

The Architecture and Vision exhibition, ‘From Pyramids to Spacecraft’, will be shown for first time in Europe at the Italian Cultural Institute in Munich, Germany. The traveling exhibition features selected projects by the design studio Architecture and Vision, founded by Italian architect Arturo Vittori and Swiss architect Andreas Vogler with offices in Munich, Germany and Bomarzo, Italy. Vittori and Vogler have been working together since 2003 and have received a number of important international recognitions. In 2006, their prototype for a tent, ‘DesertSeal’ (2004), became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. 3RD TRANSPORTATION OF ‘FIOREDELCIELO’

September 4th, 2011

“The transportation of the ‘Macchina di Santa Rosa’ is like a Space Mission, today is the Day, let’s start the countdown!”, said European Space Agency astronaut Roberto Vittori shortly before the 3rd launch of ‘FioredelCielo‘ on September 3, 2011.

At exactly 21:41, Viterbo time, the 30m (100 feets) high ‘FioredelCielo‘ was lifted into the air by 100 brave men, the “Facchini” and started its triumphal 3rd transportation of the Macchina di Santa Rosa di Viterbo, which was accompanied by the passionate applause of more than 100’000 visitors. When ‘FioredelCielo‘, illuminated by hundreds of candles, arrived majestically at the Piazza di Commune, it gracefully made a full turn around itself to be admired by the spectators. After 2 hours and 5 stops the macchina arrived in front of the Santa Rosa church, where a rain of rose petals was launched over the exhausted Facchini and their families.

The event always attracted very special guests and ‘FioredelCielo‘ has been seen by Pope Benedict XVI, European Union president Barroso and this year by our special guests, the European Space Agency astronauts Roberto Vittori and Paolo Nespoli, who recently returned from the International Space Station.

This year an important change has been the replacement of the previous ‘Costruttore’ by a new team formed by Vicenzo Fiorillo and Contaldo Cesarini in collaboration with many local companies.

The transportation of the Macchina di Santa Rosa di Viterbo was an incredible spectacle, which was followed by national and international media and camera teams.

‘FioredelCielo’, designed by Architecture and Vision will be in operation for the next 2 years and be transported again on the night of September 3rd in 2012 and 2013. The ‘Macchina di Santa Rosa’ event is currently in the procedure of becoming a UNESCO World heritage.
