DIGITAL CRAFTSMANSHIP – TALK

March 10th, 2010

Arturo Vittori and Andreas Vogler will present the company’s operational structure, which completely based on current internet technology, to the Chicago based architectural and engineering firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP (SOM). SOM shows special interest in the 3D CAD based design process and the workflow into ‘computer aided manufacturing’, which will be demonstrated by some recently completed projects.

PRACTICE ECONOMIES – TALK

March 10th, 2010

Arturo Vittori and Andreas Vogler will present their design methodology and office structure at the lecture series “Practice Economies” held by the School of the Art Institute SAIC in Chicago. The lecture series is focussing on how the process of designing and making varies in different offices and how cultural, political or social barriers are addressed when working on an international level.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA – CATALYST WORKSHOP

IMAGINA NOMINATION 2010 – AWARD

Architecture and Vision has been nominated with their MoonBaseTwo Project for the 2010 Imagina Award for “Best Design and Communication” in the section ‘Industry’.

“MoonBaseTwo” is a design by Architecture and Vision founders Arturo Vittori and Andreas Vogler for an inflatable Lunar laboratory. The nominated video was produced in 2009 for a large exhibition about 40 years Moon Landing at the Cité d’Espace in Toulouse.

IMAGINAis the annual festival on computer graphics (CG) that takes place in the Grimaldi Forum in the Principality of Monaco. It was created by The Institut national del’audiovisuel in 1981. It will be opened by French architect Jean Nouvel.The very best 3D works submitted in each of the 4 categories are in contention for 11 prizes. The winners of the Imagina Award 2010 will be announced in Monaco during theevening of Thursday 4 February 2010 at the imagina awards ceremony.

Arturo Vittori has been interviewed by Giorgio Tartaro for  the ‘Design Book’ program on the Italian TV ‘Leonardo ‘, which will be broadcasted on Sky channels on the 3th of Dicember. During the 30 minutes conversation Arturo has been introducing the design firm ‘Architecture and Vision’, explaining the companies inspiration, philosophy and presenting a selection of 9 projects from the field of architecture and product design.

Arturo Vittori will be one of the speaker at the Rhino User Meeting, that will be held in Padova, Italy.
The 6th edition of the Italian User Meeting takes place this year on the 14th Nov at the Università degli Studi di Padova. The event will allow users, teachers and students, developers, resellers and the McNeel team share their knowledge and experience in 3D Modeling, and will let any user show whatever he/she designs in his/her professional or private life in a special Pecha Kucha session.

‘From Pyramids to Spacecraft’
Venice, October  2009

‘Architecture and Vision’ has released the new book “From Pyramids to Spacecraft”. The monography is showing a selection of 22 projects. AV has been gaining international recognition by it’s advanced projects. Founded by Italian architect Arturo Vittori and Swiss architect Andreas Vogler, the company is developing its vision, which is based on a new harmony between human, nature and modern technology. The projects explore practical solutions with current technology on how to integrate new structures into the flow of resources of nature and thus giving shape to the things to come. The foreword by Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design  at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and essays by leading experts are framing the advanced work of these two architects.
