Balloon Launch in Addis Ababa

On Monday, May 14,  2012,  Architecture and Vision will launch a suborbital 'art-craft' from Addis Abeba with their ‘AtlasCoelestisZeroG‘ sculpture as a symbolic gesture representing the connection between Ethiopia--the cradle of humanity--and the Universe. The sculpture will be suspended from a weather balloon to be launched from the National Meteorological Agency near Bole Airport. A mounted camera will capture HD footage of the sculpture with planet Earth as backdrop. The project is made possible with support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Abeba, ProHelvetia, and the National Meteorological Agency of Ethiopia.
